Good morning. Up at 9am. Going to catch a quick bite to eat the of to see the rock of Cashel. It's being worked on at the moment so it is covered with scaffolding.
Found out on the tour it is not a Castle, it was a group if 5 religious buildings. Each one built at a different time.
Here is an old Abby built after the building on the rock.
Alright I am back at the hostel cooking some dinner. Going to chill out tonight. A friend of a friend who lives in Ireland is picking me up in the morning. We are going to limerick. He wants to take me to a Hurling match!!! Should be loads of fun!
I woke up early this morning so I could make the travel to Cork. Left at 8 and will get in around 12. I will spend 2-3 days in Cork and the surrounding areas. The bus this morning was packed and the kid behind me kicked my seat the whole time! It was hard not to pull out the teacher look! LOL
Well I arrived in Cork paid for two days of hostel and set off again for the bus. I am going to visit Blarney. Still rainy, so I am hoping that it will not be over crowded.
Here is me kissing the Blarney stone.
First person view of walking in the castle.
View from the top!
After the Castle I walked around the large park attached to the castle. Absolutely beautiful. It was quiet and calm. Much needed break from the city.
Well I am back in the city and about to cook some pasta and sit down and read! I am tired of the city so I don't feel like going out. Night night.
I started the day walking around with someone I met from France. We waked to a church and climbed to the top of the tower.
Sorry the audio in the clip is bad. It was really windy on top of the tower. The Smithwick's tour was nice bit we were not allowed to take photos inside the brewery. I did take a bunch of photos of the original Abby where the brew started.
Here is the tasting room where the head brewers taste the different stages of the brew daily.
Snuck this photo.
Mmmmmmm beer
Here is the original aging room that is now a bar.
I am now at the station waiting for my train. Today was the wettest day I have seen. My walk from the hostel to the station was POURING! I am a bit on the soggy side :)
Well the train was 45 min late so we got picked up by a shuttle bus and are getting driven to Waterford instead. Adventure!
Well I showed up in Tramore. I got off the bus and started walking to my hostel and...... I realized I have been here before! The Aussies and I stopes here for a night a few weeks ago! I am glad I stopes here again because we were not able to see the town when we came. I walked to the beach to see a typical Irish summer beach day. LOL. Cold rain!
I walked to the town center and stoped for a kebab. HOLLY MOLLY it was amazing. When I ordered it he made the nan bread fresh!!!
Next stop was...... You guessed it, a pub for a Guinness!
Alright, well left Dublin this morning and caught the train down to Killarney. Was hoping to go on the Smithwick's brewery tour but they are closed today so I will go tomorrow. Walked around the town today and took a tour of a really nice castle.
Got back to the hostel and immediately meet a group of people to hang out with. I love staying a hostels. We are eating cheese and bread and the girls are drinking wine and I am drinking Guinness (as usual).
The group grew from 5 to 9. Good times.
Well time for bed. Tomorrow is brewery and off to Waterford.
I got some much needed rest last night! Dwayne leaves today at 1. Cecilie and I am traveling to Howth today. The weather here has been amazing. Not sure if I brought the sun from Texas or what?
Dwayne is sad to leave but should be back in two weeks!!!!
After we dropped Dwayne off we headed to Howth. Another beautiful day outside!
As soon as I get back I am going to do some laundry and read! Then I am leaving Dublin early in the morning to head to Kilkenny. I am looking forward to a day of alone travel to recharge my energy.
Ok so I ended up meeting some cool people and went out for a bit tonight. One of the pubs had an awesome band!!!!
Today we are off to Newgrange. It is supposed to be one of the oldest structures in the world. It is 1000 years older than stonehenge.
The second one we went to was very large. We met some girls from NYC who were very fun. One found a fertility stone and made sure to rub it a bunch so she would be fertile when she got home. Lol. Guess it's a New York thing.
Next stop is back to Dublin for some rest and then meet up with some people at the hostel for burger and beer night and stay in and relax.
Met up with some really fun girls and drank and chatted for the night.
This morning I slept in and then we all walked around the city and, laid out in the sun at the park.
Later we walked uptown to try and watch a hurling match. Which is like lacrosse and rugby and soccer. We could not get in so we went to a pub and watched it on tv. We all were really tired so we grabbed a bite to eat a we all went to a movie.
Tomorrow Dwayne leaves to go home and all that is left of the group is Cecilie and I. We are going to go to Howth because she wants to see some nature and I told her I would show here around Howth sense I have been there. Dwayne decided he will try and come back for another weekend next week. We are going to meet in Galway. When I leave Dublin I am heading to the south to see some smaller towns.
Back in Dublin and having a case of dejavu. Dwayne came in last night and we quickly went to the temple bar for some pints. Awesome band.
I think today we are going to walk around Dublin and tomorrow go to the cliffs of Moher. Number two for me but I am glad to see them again. Then Sunday I think we are going to new grange. It is older than stone hinge! It should really be amazing. Oh by the way, today is the half way point.
I have been waiting for dwayne and playing cards with some people in the hostel. We are playing the card game asshole.
Of to the Guinness brewery. I hVe already done it, but Dwayne needs to see it while he is here. Still interesting the second time.
Also went to see some castles as well.
We decided to do a pub crawl tonight. Great idea!!!!!! So many people and so much fun to be had!
The pub crawl was really fun. We met a lot of really cool people. The only part I did not like was at the end it ended in a huge club. I would have rather stayed in pubs with Irish music.
Ok well off to bed. We have to be on a bus in the morning! Night night.
